N-sided has released a new software. After Quidam, a tool for creation of 3D character, here is Argile, a tool designed for the beginners or for people who don’t use a 3D modeler. poser users will be able to create their own models based on the Poser default character (or any other).
With Argile, you can work on 3D shapes without the common 3D tools . Working on volumes is as easy as working with clay (but you keep your hands clean) : you can push, rotate, resize parts of the objects using the mouse or the tablet pen.
All the work is done using the mouse or the tablet pen. Of course, the program offers plenty of tools, like automatic symetry (you don’t have to do all you modifications on the left then on the right side of the object) or a selection tool (you work only on some parts of the objects, so you can “protect” what you don’t want to change)
At the end, the model can be imported in a 3d application (Cinema 4D, Blender, Carrara, …) or imported in Poser as a Morphtarget. Argile can also be used to do final images as it offers a full renderer for characters.
But Argile is not only made to modify 3D objects, you can also paint, directly in 3d, on the object’s textures, or even create texture completely (the objects needs to be UV mapped first).
The painting user interface is really easy to use and photoshop (or painter, gimp…) users will find common tools like brush, stamp, paint can…
Please note that ARGILE can not only handle 3D character but also any other object (you can import .obj format or native format of quidam .qdm).
The price is interesting, even for non-professional users. Feel free to download the demo version available on the editor website.
